Have you ever wondered what it would take to create a children's ministry that kids would irresistibly be drawn to?
Can a children's ministry program really be the BEST hour of the week for both children and adult volunteers?
Think of a place where children would have so much fun learning about how awesome God is that they wouldn't want to miss a single week . . .
. . . where the music is so contemporary and engaging that the children leave humming the tunes, and the words help them remember biblical
truths all week long
. . . where creative teaching techniques, video, and drama are effectively used to teach this media-driven generation about how
to live the Christian life at home, at school, and in their neighborhoods
. . . where Small Group Leaders love and encourage children while modeling Jesus.
Think of a ministry where adult volunteers would serve with great joy and passion knowing they are influencing the next generation of Christ's followers. That is the kind of place we, at Willow Creek Community Church, wanted our children's ministry to become.
That is our vision. To develop our strategy we listened to:
• Children, who told us that our classes were boring (that is, our methods were outdated and relevant application to their everyday lives was missing)!
• Adult volunteers, who loved serving children, but were experiencing burnout as they tried to keep up with all the preparation they needed to do to teach their classes.
Promiseland is the result.
The first step we needed to take was to develop a clear, concise mission to be the foundation of how Promiseland works.
The MISSION of Promiseland is to supplement the family in their attempt to lay down a spiritual foundation that, in God's timing, will lead a child into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Promiseland has also developed specific VALUES that reflect our mission.
